 On
the 23rd and 24th of October 2004 Georgian National Golf Association
(GNGA) introduced the project of the first golf club and the golf
village in Georgia – TBILISI GOLF CLUB. Many honored guests
visited this presentation, like Prime minister of Georgia Mr. Z.Jvania,
Minister of Defense of Georgia Mr. G.Baramidze, well known Georgian
politician Mr. G. Khaindrava, the governor of Mtskheta region Mr.
G. Khachidze, Chairman of Mtskheta region Mr. B. Lordkipanidze,
ambassador of France in Georgia Mr. Philippe Lefort, ambassador
of Russian Federation Mr. V. Chkhikvishvili, famous actor and singer
V.Kikabidze and many-many more. There would be needed huge space
to name all our guests, but these men are the pride of their countries.
The presentation started with the speech of the president of Georgian
National Golf Association, Mr. M.Ratishvili. He spoke about golf,
about golf history and traditions, but the most important part was
when he revealed the aim of GNGA, to help Georgia become the part
of civilized world community, to invite golf-tourists in Georgia,
and to raise popularity of golf, so we could have professional Georgian
golfers who will compete in different international tournaments.
 Afterwards,
guests were invited to Driving Range. Few of them already knew bit
about golf, but mostly, there were beginners and they received the
chance to try golf swing. As their first golf trainers were President
of GNGA Mr. M.Ratishvili and the Golf Program Director of GNGA Mr.
D.Motsikulashvili. Everyone who made a golf shot were amazed and
really enjoyed.
Shortly after, all the volunteers could sign in the list and took
a part in two competitions on the range: longest drive (everyone
tried to hit the ball as long as they could) and closest to the
pin (juniors tried their best to stop the ball just next to 50 meters
mark). The winners received the prizes golf balls and shirts with
GNGA logo on it. Also some of the new Georgian “golfers”
received souvenirs and gifts.
Many guests were attracted by the pictures on the banners. These
were the pictures of the future golf village and the design of the
golf course. There were distributed folders with some interesting
information such as contracts for ones who will decide to cooperate
with GNGA and all the pictures of future golf village and golf club
in addition.
People who felt tired were invited to try our buffet with different
dishes. Everything went in friendly climate just like in the big
golf family and even weather was our companion with perfect sunshine
and blue sky.
 The
presentation was concluded with the symbolic action – Mr.
M. Ratishvili read the letter (message for future generations) and
everyone has signed it. Afterwards, golf ball and the letter were
placed in the capsule and this action was met with applause and
Georgian national songs. This capsule was built in a wall and blessed
with the Georgian red wine.
Georgia is going to have beautiful golf club and the first step
has already taken.
